The Lew's brand originated in America and was primarily known for the special rod handles developed by Lews Childre, which are now known everywhere as speed stick handles or trigger handles. Of course, the company has continued to develop over the years and today covers the entire tackle range in spin fishing.

The BB1 Speed Spool is a baitcast reel with enormous power that was specially developed for spin fishing for smaller pike, zander and perch. But this model even has a history because although the BB1 is constantly being improved, the original platform of this model was developed directly by Lews Childre and still enjoys a loyal and faithful following among anglers today, which continues to grow.

The frame of this reel consists of a one-piece aluminum part with graphite side plates and is therefore particularly robust, stable and torsion-free. The coil itself is forged in a U-shape to increase the capacity even further. So that the line has a particularly beautiful winding and the capacity can be increased even further, the BB1 Speed Spool has an oversized titanium-coated zirconium oxide line guide that is slightly further away from the spool than with other reels. This feature also ensures that friction on the line is minimized and therefore casting performance is maximized.

This reel also has a Smart Plus 6-Pin Centrifugal Brake System (CBS), which ensures strong braking performance and gives you plenty of traction when fighting. This system uses 4 spring-loaded Smart Plus pens and two Speed pens. The Smart Plus pins reduce braking force as the cast slows down. This feature is advantageous for many types of fishing. The speed pins of the braking system give you great advantages when fishing in strong winds by increasing the braking power.

The gears of the Speedgear system are made of solid brass and are cut out with high precision using a Hamai High Precision CNC milling machine.

But these features are by no means everything because this reel is absolutely high-tech and also has 10 high-quality double-shielded stainless steel ball bearings, a multi-stop anti-reverse system, spool tension adjustment, an aluminum crank with soft-touch paddle handles, an anodized aluminum star drag , a titanium-coated zirconium oxide line guide, a Smart Plus 6-Pin Centrifugal Brake System and an external lubricant opening.
