The Baitcaster for large baits and fish!

The brand new Shimano Tranx has been developed "as a workhorse for big fish". This Heavy Duty Low Profile Baitcaster is thus unique in the European program of Shimano. Strong, durable, and reliable, it is therefore the ideal companion in both freshwater and saltwater.

This type of reels is commonly used for fishing with large baits for strong fish. That's exactly what the Tranx was developed for. Weighing 340 g, it certainly isn't one of the lightweights, but it is still lighter than comparable reels on the European market and significantly cheaper.

Whether in freshwater with jerkbaits, crankbaits, spinnerbaits or soft baits beyond 100 g for pike, or for jigging as well as for use with live bait on strong saltwater fish - the Tranx is made for it!

The Shimano Tranx A has been equipped with the Coreprotect system. Coreprotect prevents water from entering the housing, at the front of the housing, or into the roller bearing unit. The concept is simple: Coreprotect promotes a silky smooth operation – even though the reel is extremely water-resistant.

There are 3 reel components that need special protection: the brake, the housing, and the line roller. The brake: This is the most difficult part when it comes to water resistance and performance. To achieve the water resistance of the brake without compromising the silky smooth operation of the reel, a surface treatment was used that makes water bead up on the outside.

The housing: to protect the housing, Coreprotect uses various seals and a special surface treatment. Anti-Reverse was omitted to increase protection.
