The Super-Braided!

The new WFT 12+1 KG is our 12+1-strand premium line for the highest demands. For this, we use the thinnest UHMPE filaments currently available in Japan. The WFT 12+1 KG consists of 13 Japanese Ultra High Modulus PE threads. 12 PE threads are braided around a unidirectional core, which also consists of 100 percent UHMPE.

Why 12+1 and not simply 13? Already 8-strand constructions form a cavity in the center of the braid. However, this is small and is almost completely sealed by the coating applied, for example, in the WFT FIRST 8 KG.

In 12-strand constructions, the cavity is so large that water can enter, which would negatively affect the mechanical properties of the line, especially during casting.

In the WFT 12+1 KG, the 13th thread (the +1) already prevents this cavity in the construction. Additionally, the 13th thread prevents the braid from being compressed, keeping it perfectly round.

The WFT 12+1 KG once again pushes the boundaries of what is technically possible, as abrasion and knot strength are up to 50% above 8-strand constructions. All this with an unprecedented smoothness.
